Chroma Riot
—
Chroma Riot is an independent paint brand for people who want loud, joyful color at home. The website is the brand's flagship experience, not a shop: an interactive Color Wall of our 48 wall paints, a Live Room visualizer that repaints an illustrated room in any scheme, editorial Palette Stories, and a public Palette Board where members publish their schemes. Paint is bought at partner stockists (a stockist list by city, no map). We do not sell online: no cart, no product checkout, no delivery. The only on-site transaction is the Color Club membership, a monthly subscription paid by card through checkout. **User stories** * A visitor lands on a full-screen opener and scrolls into the Color Wall: all 48 paints as large tiles laid out as one continuous spectrum, filterable by family (reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, purples, neutrals), undertone (warm or cool) and mood (calm, bold, playful). Hovering a tile floods the page background with that color; clicking opens the color's page. * The Color page is split-screen: on the left the color at full bleed with its name, code, undertone and a short story; on the right the Live Room, an illustrated room (walls, ceiling, trim, door, sofa) repainted instantly in that color. The visitor assigns companion colors to ceiling, trim and door to build a scheme and sees three suggested pairings. * Any visitor can sign up and sign in. Free members save up to 3 palettes; saved palettes live on the Account page with a printable "take to the stockist" summary (color names, codes, surfaces). * Members publish a saved palette to the public Palette Board with an alias and a mood tag. The board is browsable by anyone, newest first and by mood; each entry shows the scheme as stacked color bars and the Live Room rendered in it. No comments, no likes, no follows, no messaging. * Palette Stories are long-form editorial pages, one per season, that show a scheme in context with large photography, pull quotes and full-bleed color sections. * Color Club has three tiers. Free: browse everything, 3 saved palettes. Plus at $4.99/month: unlimited saved palettes, publish to the Palette Board, the full Palette Stories archive. Pro at $9.99/month: everything in Plus, plus the Color Desk (the member describes a room and picks up to 3 colors, and a colorist replies with a scheme within 3 days) and early access to seasonal color drops. Subscribing runs through the site's subscription checkout; members manage or cancel from the Account page. Members-only content shows non-members a sign-in or subscribe prompt, never a blank or broken page. * Stockists: a list of partner stores grouped by city with address and opening hours. No map. * Out of scope for v1: online paint sales, cart, delivery, reviews, comments, video, maps, newsletters, file downloads, image uploads, admin console. **Benefits** * Visitors commit to bold color with confidence: they judge a scheme on a whole room, not a 2 cm swatch. * Members get an expert scheme from the Color Desk and a public place to show their own. * The brand earns recurring membership revenue and sends qualified buyers to its stockists. **Look & feel** Design is the product. The site must not look like a template: no centered hero with two buttons, no three-column feature rows, no card grids, no stacked generic sections. * Chrome palette: ink #0B0B0F and chalk #F6F3EC. The paints themselves are the vivid palette and take over whole sections: cobalt #1F3BFF, tangerine #FF6A13, acid lime #C6FF00, hot magenta #FF2D95, butter yellow #FFD23F, deep teal #00706B. Every screen has at least one full-bleed color field. * Typography-led: oversized display headlines in a distinctive condensed grotesque with a system fallback, a high-contrast serif for editorial text, color codes and numbers set huge as graphic elements, ticker lines, tight tracking. * Layouts: a horizontal-scrolling spectrum strip, split-screen color-versus-room, an asymmetric editorial grid with overlapping elements, a sticky side rail for filters, type set inside full-bleed color blocks, generous chalk space alternating with saturated blocks. * Motion: the background floods to the hovered color, the Live Room transitions colors smoothly, ticker text scrolls, editorial pages have subtle parallax. Respect reduced-motion settings. * Imagery: several large photographs of interiors, paint texture and people at home, used full-bleed and inside the editorial grid. The opening screen is a full-bleed photograph with an oversized headline and a live spectrum strip along its bottom edge. Every image slot must degrade to a designed color field with type, never a grey placeholder box. * Mobile-first: the Color Wall becomes a vertical spectrum and the Live Room stacks under the color. * Tone: joyful, loud, confident. Short copy, playful color names.
